HAIRTRENDS 2011 - 2012
The haircolors this winter are mostly cooler tints. Both blond and brown. More shades to create more movement in its creation. For both men and women the look of the 70s is back. Big hair! But the sleek wet look is hot again this year. This is shown especially in fashion shows. You create this look with a wet look gel or wax. What we will see a lot this summer is the tight tail and loose braids.
For men: tight separations on the side, short sides and long tops. At this look it is important to use a firm gel or wax. But also the casual look, more movement in the hair is a trend this year for men. You can create this casual look by using a matte wax or spray it with hairspray with a firm fixation and a dry look.

CURLS
The best basis for curly hair is a good caring shampoo and conditioner.
Brush your curly hair gently. Curly hair is dry and has a fluffy texture, so it is important to get that under control. You can use a curl cream or serum.
If you want to dry your the hair, you get the best effect if the hair is being "twisted". This means you tuft your hair around your finger and turn it. This allows you form the curl. Curls are best to dry with a diffuser.
If you want to get more volume, you can throw it over your head with your head down. If the hairroot gets dryer, keep your head straight again and blow the rest of the curls almost dry. After drying the curls you can still choose to model them with a wax or serum.

10 HAIRCARE TIPS FOR AUTUMN
During autumn many people have dry, fuzzy and sometimes static hair.
10 tips to take care of your hair during autumn:
1. To prevent dry hair it is important to use a good shampoo and conditioner. It is also advisable to use a treatment regularly (moisturizing, restoring)
2. Use, especially for long hair, always a serum for the hair ends, to prevent dry and split ends.
3. Always use a spray/cream when styling/blowdrying as this will protect your hair from the heat of the blowdryer and styling iron. The hair will stay shiny, supple and will not dry out.
4. It is not sensible to wash your hair every day as the colour will fade, and your hair will become dry and greasy faster.
5. If it is really cold, it is good to protect your hair with e.g. a hat or cap (preferably cotton)
6. If you spray some conditioner on your comb or brush your hair will not become static. Wearing synthetic clothing can also cause your hair to become static.
7. After washing your hair always squeeze it dry, do not rub it dry, as the hair will become dry and the hair scales will open up).
8. If you use a brush, it is best to have one with real hair (boar) as they give more shine and less chance of dry, static hair.
9. Do not wash your hair with water that is too hot, as it will only dry out your hair and it does not make it cleaner.
10. Try to have a haircut regularly, e.g. every 5 or 6 weeks.

FAQ ON HAIR COLOURING
Everybody wants a nice hair colour. If you don’t like your own hair colour you can change it by colouring your hair and/or bleaching. When colouring your hair it is very important to know what you’re doing.
Which colouring do I need?
There are several kinds of colouring, permanent and semi-permanent ones. If you are not sure yet which hair colour suits you best, you can use a semi-permanent colouring. After a while the colour will disappear by washing your hair. With grey hair almost in all cases a permanent colouring is used as it covers the grey 100% (natural colour).
If you don’t know what colour you need, ask your hairdresser for your colour number, place your order at saveonhaircare.nl and get value for money!
How can I colour my hair?
The colouring always needs to be mixed with hydrogen oxidant. Once you’ve coloured your hair and you want to keep that colour, it is enough to just every 4 to 6 weeks only colour the outgrow (so not the whole hair). You can however freshen up the lengths and ends of your hair by adding a bit of water to the colouring and massage/comb it in there. This is better for your hair.
If the colouring does not cover that well yet on hair with a high grey percentage (e.g. on the temples) it is possible to pre-colour that part (that is without the hydrogen oxidant) and after that apply the colouring with the hydrogen oxidant.
Can I colour my hair darker or lighter?
Light hair can only be made darker if it’s pre-coloured with warmth or if there is warmth in the colouring, otherwise there is a chance your hair will turn green.
Coloured hair cannot be made lighter, or it’s very hard to do, with colouring. You can actually only take away colour by bleaching it. If you’ve never done that before, it’s better to have it done by a professional hairdresser.
How can I take care of my coloured hair best?
Always use hair products like shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair to make sure the colour stays nice longer. Next to that, use a mask once a week for guaranteed colour retention.
Hair gets damaged by frequent colouring, styling, blowdrying, the sun and swimming. That’s why it is advisable to protect your hair with e.g. a leave-in conditioner with UV protection for coloured hair.

HOW DO I LOOK AFTER MY BLOND HAIR?
Bleached hair is nice, but needs extra care, as it often is porous and drier.
Be careful when bleaching your own hair. If you have never done it before, you’d better have it done by a hairdresser. If the hair appears to be too yellow or orange, you can wash it with silver shampoo. Attention: silver shampoo can only be used once or twice a week. Silver shampoo doesn’t clean as well as other shampoo.
If you style or blowdry your hair it is even more important to use a heat-resistent product. Always use a conditioner after washing your hair and try to use a mask for blond hair regularly. This will keep your blond hair shiny and sparkly!
In conclusion, keep bleached hair out of the sun and out of chlorine water as your hair may change colour.

HAIRCARE DURING THE SUMMER
The summer means sun, sea , beach and swimmingpool. Very nice of course, but not so good for your hair. That is why it is very important to protect your hair and take care of it. In summer it is best to use special sun products with UV filters.
During summer remember the following:
- Always use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Sun, sea and swimmingpool dry out your hair.
- Protect your hair with e.g. a leave-in haircare product, with UV protection.
- With long hair it is very important not to wear it loose, but in a plait or ponytail. Use elastic bands without the iron piece, as they break your hair.
- Try to use an after-sun hair product to boost your hair again after sunbathing. It will nurture your hair intensely which reduces the chance of damaging your hair through sun, sea and beach.
- Especially with coloured and bleached hair it is wise to protect it against the sun as it may change the colour. You can do that by wearing a hat or a haircare product with UV protection.
- Try to keep bleached hair out of chlorine water, and/or to put in a nurturing product, otherwise your hair may turn green.
- If you’ve been in the sea with your hair, it is best to wash it out immediately and to add a nurturing and protective product to your hair, as sun, salt, and sand dry out your hair.
- For water sportspeople there are waterproof products available which stay in your hair when you’re in the water.
- If you still want that beach-look you can use a spray which gives you that beach-look you want, like Fudge Salt Spray.
